Atmospheric Tides

Atmospheric Tides is one of two generative artworks created for Elite Merit Real Estate's new global headquarters in Dubai, UAE. These works respond to the environment via real-time data inputs, including tide cycles, current weather conditions and solar intensity, leading to slowly evolving forms reflecting the environment the work is situated in. Finally, a circadian cycle introduces a day-to-night dynamic each day, yielding a rich compositional variety each day and over the course of years.

This work uses information such as tidal phase (high, low, interstitial), time between waves, wind direction and moon phase to drive a range of algorithmic parameters, each contributing to the final composition rendered on screen. The spatial composition is driven by the tidal phase, with textural changes and animations driven by wind speed and other factors.
