Insubstantial scatters tiny particles throughout space and subjects them to massive forces moving very slowly, echoing the small bits of matter bound comprising our universe, constantly and perpetually bound under incredible amounts of celestial force. Over time these forces accumulate and interact to constrain the motion of the particulate matter, in turn producing beautifully complex structures of cosmic voids, knots and filaments.
In Insubstantial, these spatiotemporal forms coalesce and dissolve unexpectedly and at times imperceptibly, like galaxies, stars, and planets blinking into and out of existence. A moment spans eons, thrusting the brevity of our human experiment into sharp relief. Our delicate gossamer of existence is insubstantial, full of precarity in the vastness of the cosmos.
